ABOUT US

Changes in seasons seem to not only apply to nature, life comes with different times and seasons. Each one of them comes with its own unique opportunities and challenges. Just like we observe in the nature around us, we need to learn to embrace each of these seasons so that we get the best of it. We have to remember that all these seasons are well connected, everything that happens in each one of them determines how things will be in the next one. God is the one who has set such times and seasons therefore, He is ready to sustain us through them all with His abundant grace, blessings and love. We have to continue working hard each day and giving our best regardless of the season. Remember, knowing the times and seasons will guide you in knowing how to live and what’s expected of you.

So, how about going through these seasons with the guidance of the word of God as an individual, with a colleague at work, with your spouse or family or with your home cell group.

SONG OF SOLOMON 2:10-13
My beloved spoke and said to me,
“Arise, my darling,
My beautiful one, come with me.
See! The winter is past;
The rains are over and gone.
Flowers appear on the earth;
The season of singing has come,
The cooing of doves is heard in our land.
The fig tree forms its early fruit;
The blossoming vines spread their fragrance.
Arise, come, my darling;

Preserve – Autumn

Romans 5:3-5  And not only this, but [with joy] let us exult in our sufferings and rejoice in our hardships, knowing that hardship (distress, pressure, trouble) produces patient endurance;  and endurance, proven character (spiritual maturity); and proven character, hope and confident assurance [of eternal salvation].  Such hope [in God’s promises] never disappoints us, because God’s love has been abundantly poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Hebrews 10:36  For you have need of patient endurance [to bear up under difficult circumstances without compromising], so that when you have carried out the will of God, you may receive and enjoy to the full what is promised.

As autumn comes there is a shedding of leaves as trees begin to prepare for winter. They only keep with them that which is necessary while shedding off the rest so as to preserve their nutrients in preparation of the dry seasons to come. The identity is not lost but life is preserved through letting go of what is temporary.

Letting go of the temporary to preserve nutrients that we will need to feed our identity in future seasons is a good thing. Failure to do this would bring trouble to us in the next season because we will not be ready for it. It may not be an attractive process and may leave you feeling exposed, but we need that time to retract, rest, reflect and recharge.

RETRACT, REST, REFLECT, RECHARGE

Persevere – Winter

Matthew 24:13 But the one who endures and bears up [under suffering] to the end will be saved.

Luke 21:19  By your [patient] endurance [empowered by the Holy Spirit] you will gain your souls.

Winter forces everything to draw back into the depths of their habitats as they suspend the activities they do (animals hibernate, plants are dormant and bare). With the energy preserved during autumn they persevere through the crushing and harsh cold winter and endure the dryness that comes with that season.

We too, go through this season of deep rest where we need to persevere through the crushing and harsh moments and endure the dryness of that season. In this season, we need to lay low and just conserve the energy we have only to use it when needed for survival. Some days are more frosty and rough, demanding more from us, but we have to soldier on until the end, holding onto the hope that spring will come one day.

Prepare – Spring

Hebrews 6:15 And so, having patiently waited, he realized the promise [in the miraculous birth of Isaac, as a pledge of what was to come from God].

Galatians 6:9 Let us not grow weary or become discouraged in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap, if we do not give in.

Finally, the season of renewal of life is here and everything begins to bring out all the energy that was reserved. We begin to see plants budding and getting ready for the season of growth. The hope of seeing life again which was sustained during winter begins to show forth.

Our spring is the season where we begin to plan, prepare and plant. We don’t need not sit down and relax because the rains will come before we plant. There is no room for procrastination either. We have to sow bountifully and wait patiently for the rains.

PLAN, PREPARE, PLANT

Produce – Summer

Acts 14:17 yet He did not leave Himself without some witness [as evidence of Himself], in that He kept constantly doing good things and showing you kindness, and giving you rains from heaven and productive seasons, filling your hearts with food and happiness.”

Summer brings the rains and the Lord gives growth to everything that was planted. Nature is bursting forth with life and so are we. The plants grow, mature and bear fruits.

 This is a season for us to grow into everything we have been working on throughout each season and to fully flourish.
