When things don’t go as expected

Ruth 1:3-5
Ruth 1:20-21

The needs of life forced this family to part with the rest of their people to look for a living amongst foreigners. They were looking for a place with better chances of survival and better living conditions. Upon getting there, they settled well, but the husband and father of the house died, followed by his two sons. There were no relatives left for this woman, and she had to go back to her people.

We may have plans like this family, but things may not turn out as planned. In 10 years, Naomi lost her two sons and Husband, something they never expected or saw coming. We may have excellent plans and do well in executing them, but we should always know that we aren't in control, but God is. Therefore, we should always entrust ourselves into his hands. When things fall on us unexpectedly, we will always find healing, comfort, and hope in the Lord.
Finally, we have to learn to value and appreciate the things we remain with regardless of how little they are. Even though Naomi had Ruth, who was loyal to her, worked hard to bring food to her table, was obedient to her, and loved her with her own life, she still said she came home empty and this must have stung to hear for Ruth.
